Young (20 months?) Black-headed Caique.
He is affectionate and responds well when some time is devoted to playing with him EACH DAY. He NEEDS about 20 minutes once and perhaps 10 minutes once ore twice more to remain entertained and connected to his human company. He is so charming that playing with him is delightful, not onerous. He loves paying, climbing under jackets, riding on a shoulder, lying on his back (rare for most parrots). He will ride on a shoulder for long times.
He is very emotionally perceptive, and enjoys sitting quietly, watching and listening to humans interact with each other. The affection and respect of at least one human friend is very important to him. Daily play is a must, but since he also LOVES climbing around on ladders, plastic chains, hanging rings and chew toys of all kids (wood or leather). He will spend hours playing on a hanging array of toys high up in our TV room. as he just enjoys being near his human companion(s) and when he gets a few hrs of this a day, his play time needs decrease. THIS IS A PLAYFUL PARROT. He will do best in a large cage with different levels of perches and lots of toys, chew toys, ropes, plastic chains, etc. unless you play with him at least 3 times a day or let him spend a couple hours on chanes and ladders and hoops in the room you watch TV in.
He must have plenty of toys, ropes, etc. to play on. This is NOT a parrot that gets along well with other parrots (unless they are caged separately).
This is a great bird for someone who WANTS AN INTERACTIVE PARROT. If you want a "part tune" parrot or one that is docile & just sits around, he is not for you.
I do not have the time he needs & deserves and my wife is afraid of parrots. He says "Hi Baby" & Whistles & imitates phones, alarms, and even our canaries a bit. He has a great wolf whistle and I am convinced he would learn short whistling melodies.
Comes with modest cage - but needs a larger, better one. I paid $1,200 for him but will take $700 TO LOVING HOME ONLY 619 286-4837 or email at mlblood@cox.net
