Since I get a lot of questions -
Lets see if I can make a long story short. Bonded not proven. Egg laying female was a pet for 8 yrs and has had a clutch every year since she was 5yrs old. Once she started laying every year she became increasingly less of a pet year by year but there was no male to pair her with. I ended up buying a proven male from Fran and paired them up and they took to each other right away. I thought I would be able to breed her because of the egg laying consistancy. I had made the cage you see them in here. All acrylic, very nice for lories. I had it special ordered and when it was delivered I had to put it together. I did so in my living room. It was missing several screws and I improvised with DeckMate Decking screws, so the thing is never coming apart. Thats when I realized the cage was too big to fit through any door in my house. Luckly I have an open concept living room and it is attached to the kitchen. My kitchen has french doors to my dinning room which we use as a bird room for our pet birds. So you can imagine this was the only solution on where to put it since wasnt taking it apart after sing all those deck screws. Well, now that this has turned into a long story, my bird room for my pets has way to much traffic and activity for these two to properly nest, I have seen them mating but she has not laid any eggs since being put in that cage in that room. It has only been at this point 6-7 months they have been together, but I truely believe they are going to be a great producing pair if given a real aviary for breeding and the proper conditions. The female cost me 750.00 and the male 500.00, and the cage well I would rather not say as it is embarrasing at this point. I do not believe they will breed under conditions they are in and I have no where else to put them. Once they are sold and the cage is empty, I will be using it for a pet lory I have. Make me a reasonable offer.
