We are selling our male Eclectus parrot, Romeo. We are including his cage, and can include food/water bowls, a parrot information book, a simple wooden perch, and of course, his toys. We have had him for a year now, and his first/last owner, a single woman who had had him for three years, said she couldn't remember his hatch date, but he was six at that time, so we've marked his 'birthday' as March 31st (so he's seven now). He does talk a little, and we were told he used to have a much larger vocabulary. He not only meows and says "honk honk", but we sometimes hear "Hi", "wait", "quit", and a few other things that sound like he's trying to mimic speech. He's pretty shy, and will wait until you leave the room, most of the time, before he speaks, but he's always improving. He is pretty vocal with general noises, though, and does some whistling. He will and does climb down from the cage if you talk to him or leave the room when his cage door(s) are open, which is most of the time, to see what you're doing!

This bird has not hurt us, but he does get a little jealous of 'his woman', so we're aiming at selling to either a bachelor, (he's happy to hang out with my husband - he just gets irritated when he's taken from me!), a woman, or a family that is willing to accept him as a "one person bird". In our situation, I'm afraid, it can't be done.

Serious buyers only, please. We can meet you halfway, and the price range is negotiable. Eclectus parrots can live from 60-80 years, and there are certain things they can't eat. (Though, Romeo will try to steal whatever he can from your plate - he wants some, too!!) You don't have to be very experienced with birds, I can always be in contact with you if you need any advice or help, at least with diet and normal care/toys/etc.. This toward-men attitude is the only problem we've had with this guy, and he's been around our pet cat, dog, and our smaller birds, and has done great. He squawks with the best, coos, has been learning to flip upside down, and gives kisses - if you're a woman, you couldn't find a more beautiful, sweet bird.

We are asking $750, but it's negotiable. You're not just getting a bird here, but a large cage that he's used to as well! I can get better pictures of the cage and send them to anyone who is curious.
